Flotec was set up in 2010 by Taj Hendry and James Orr. From a shared love of Mountain biking, and the thought that servicing was overpriced, Flotec Suspension was born.
Taj has been riding and fixing bikes for as long as he can remember. After leaving school he joined the Royal Air Force as a weapons technician. With training completed, he worked briefly servicing Sidewinder and Skyflash air-to-air missiles, before being posted to 617 Squadron (The Dambusters, RAF Lossiemouth) where he worked servicing Tornado aircraft, weapons systems and ejection seats. When not working, or occupied in overseas operations, Taj was heavily involved in the local Enduro motocross scene. Upon leaving the Air force and returning to Edinburgh, Taj began work at Macdonald Cycles and was taken under the “bingo wing” of Danny Macaskill in the workshop. Briefly working in The Bike Chain as workshop manager, he moved on to work at the Bike Station before deciding to set up Flotec with close friend James.
During the 2013 Downhill world cup Taj worked with the KHS Factory down-hill team on the world cup circuit as mechanic for Logan Bingelli and Kevin Aiello. In 2014 EWS season Taj worked with The Cube Action Team. The team had some great results with the highlight being Greg Calaghan winning the round in Ireland.
